The World Peace University Men’s Basketball Team has completed a remarkable season by winning the championship in the Northern Cyprus Inter – University Second League. With this outstanding performance, the team has earned the right to compete in the higher league in the upcoming season.

Our team, which drew attention with its consistent play and strong team spirit throughout the season, claimed the championship by defeating European Leadership University with a score of 73-44 in the final match. With this remarkable achievement, our team has earned the right to compete in UniLeague in the 2025-2026 season.

Following the championship, Team Coach Fouondo Bantio Douglas stated:
“We worked hard all season, believed in ourselves, and finally achieved this great goal. We are already starting our preparations to represent our university in the best possible way in UniLeague next season.”

Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Behiye Çavuşoğlu added:

This significant success is the result of our students’ determination and teamwork. We congratulate our basketball team and the technical staff, and we wholeheartedly believe they will demonstrate the same dedication and success in UniLeague. We aim to strengthen WPU’s brand value and enhance its role in academic, sports and cultural areas.

This achievement was made possible not only by our players and technical team but also by our valuable sponsors who supported us. We extend our deepest gratitude to Alpet Cyprus and Creditwest Bank for their generous sponsorship contributions.”

As World Peace University, we also thank the TRNC University Sports Federation and all officials for their continuous support and contributions to university sports and the multifaceted development of students.
