Business Administration is one of the departments under the Faculty of Business and Economics. I would like to welcome you to our island and program. The department aims at acquiring the contemporary knowledge and skills in the field of business and management and transmitting those to you, our distinguished students.
For us, the academics of the department, to keep the department up-to-date and to train and educate our students, accordingly, is our priority.
Education, especially higher education is not a one-way process. Thus, we altogether will learn and transfer our accommodation of knowledge to each. This will be one of our mottos in the department. Creativity is also equally important for us. At the same time, we support equality and diversity within our department. Scientific production is another important issue and aim for us. We will follow such a path to provide those and beyond.
Practical application is important in Business Administration, in addition to theoretical knowledge. Thus, the department aims to host such employers and employees from the diverse job groups and sectors.
Career opportunities for the graduates of BA department are broad. A graduate will have the chance to find a job within the public and private sector. They can work in various departments such as accounting, marketing, human resource management, operations management, international trade. In addition, graduates of the department can successfully set up and manage their own business.

This course will be a broad overview of specific business topics. It aims to give students a background of modern business principles. Also, this course will introduce students to the business profession by incorporating and integrating business knowledge and information across departmental curriculum lines to enhance the overall comprehension of the business world.
BUSN 121 Economics I
This course instructs students in the principles of economics, serving as the base for learning micro issues through practice. Topics covered include economics and thinking as an economist; elasticity; consumer choices; competitive market; production decisions; monopoly; monopolistic competition; oligopoly and game theory.
BUSN 131 Math I
This course illustrates mathematics used in business and economics. It will be the base to learn problem solving by applications. The topics covered are equations and inequalities; lines, parabolas and systems; business mathematics with their applications functions; logarithmic functions.
WENG 101 Academic English
WENG 101 is a first semester freshman academic English course. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to B1+ level, as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course connects critical thinking with language skills and incorporates learning technologies. The purpose of the course is to consolidate students’ knowledge and awareness of academic discourse, language structures and lexis. The main focus will be on the development of productive (writing and speaking) and receptive (reading and listening) skills in academic settings.
WTUR 101 Turkish I
This course is designed to introduce students with the basic grammar and writing skills and help students to further develop their Turkish language abilities and have a better understanding of the culture. The students will be able to participate in simple conversations, read and comprehend various authentic texts, listen to conversations and answer questions.
WATA 101 I Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution
The content of the course covers the history of the revolution that the Turkish nation went through under the leadership of Ataturk. The reasons for the collapse of the Ottoman Empire are examined and how the State of the Republic of Turkey was established from a de facto destroyed state is evaluated in the light of documents. The founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal realized by Atatürk Turkish Revolution, the nation-state and modernity and secularism case of Turkey in the context of phrases and meanings corresponding to the Kemalist thought to teach the students.

This course aims to give a specific content about the continuous change world of business. It will maintain information in the fields of marketing, economic system, finance and management.
WICT 101 Introduction to Information & Communication Technologies
This course provides an introduction to fundamental concepts of computer systems and computer architecture. Students will develop a broad understanding in all areas of information technology and will be introduced to computer hardware and software concepts, infrastructure, software development and databases. Students will also learn hardware and software installation, basic network connectivity, identification and prevention of basic security risks.

This is an introductory course in statistic. Displaying and describing data, the normal curve, regression, probability, statistical inference, confidence intervals, and hypothesis tests with applications in the real world will be examined.

This course demonstrates the financial accounting cycle of a company which will serve as the basis of understanding, preparing and analyzing the financial statements. This course discusses the ethical questions raised by the pursuit of a good life, especially in relation to the notions of academic integrity and civic duties. Cases where the boundary between private and public interests has been blurred will be examined in order to understand how ethical theory might inform academic and public life.

This course provides students to consider themselves as managers and help them understand how they can manage organizations and teams using effective practices such as planning, decision making, organizational structure, culture, leadership, motivation, and communication.
BUSN 223 Research Methods
This course is an introduction to business research, focusing on the methods and tools used in empirical research. Students will learn about various types of study, such as non-experimental and experimental research, as well as qualitative and quantitative research. The course will also cover the steps involved in the research process, from defining the problem and reviewing the literature to designing the study and analyzing data. Students will also learn about statistical methods and formulas and how to analyze, interpret, and visualize data. Additionally, the course will cover how to write a proper research report, including its content, layout, and references. BUSN 321 Financial Management
This objective of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental theories and concepts of corporate finance underlining the techniques offered for the evaluation, understanding, and solving problems of financial managers. The aim of the course is to examine the main financial management building blocks which are main concern to corporate managers, and all the calculations necessary to make financial decisions.
BUSN 341: Organizational Behavior
This course is about understanding how people behave in organizations. It covers topics like the basic concepts of organizational behavior, how individual behavior is influenced by psychological and sociological factors, the relationship between attitudes and job satisfaction, the role of personality and values, how people make decisions, the impact of motivation and emotions, how groups behave, how communication is essential, what leadership is and how it affects behavior, how power and politics play a role, how conflicts and negotiations happen, and how human resources policies and practices shape behavior. By the end of the course, students will understand how to analyze and apply these concepts to real-world situations and have developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills. BUSN 312 Managerial Accounting
This course describes the fundamentals of management accounting that will be the basis to understand the use of financial and cost information to make managerial decisions. Topics of theis course include role of managerial accounting; cost volume profit analysis; cost terms and determination; relevant costs; activity based costing; job costing; cost allocation.
BUSN 302: Marketing Management
This course explains the significance and the role of marketing in the organizations. Also, marketing management course helps students in learning about the marketing process which involves the business need for customer orientation, marketing plans/strategies, Internet marketing, market segmentation, retailing, advertising, pricing, etc.
BUSN 342: Human Resource Management
This course aims to assist students to acquire an academic understanding of human resource management (HRM) at the undergraduate level. It provides a comprehensive review of main concepts, functions, and processes in HRM. Through critical discussions of functions and dimensions of HRM, the course targets to help students answer two essential questions: Why and in what ways HRM is one of the most significant management functions in organisations? and whose responsibility is HR management?
BUSN 401 Management Information Systems
This is a principal course for the students of business administration. The course provides information on the concept of information systems and their importance for business success. Topics
included in this course are; organizational and technical foundations of information systems, theory of information
systems design, fundamental database principles, network systems, and e-commerce and supply
chain systems. Different information technology applications in business and support to decision makers for strategic business decisions will also be discussed.
BUSN 411 Operations Management
Operations Management discover how enterprises distribute goods and services, supply the products to the both domestic and international markets. Students will be able to control, maintain, and plan the inventory. Also, this course explores quality assurance systems, and use techniques to deliver projects on time and on budget.
BUSN 402 International Business
The course proposes information on the concepts and applications of international business. It examines different theories of international business including international trade and investment; it focusses on motivations of internationalization of firms and international entry strategies; cultural environment of international business; strategies & organization in the international firm; and marketing & human resource management in the global firm.
BUSN 412 Strategic Planning & Management
Strategic Management is about identification and description of the strategies that managers can use to enhance the performance and competitive advantage of their businesses in various sectors and environments. The course aims to inform the student of the nature and importance of small businesses. Students are also introduced to opportunities and risks inherent in small businesses and entrepreneurship. This course covers topics on foundations of small business ownership and entrepreneurship; creativity and innovation as an integral part of entrepreneurship; strategic management process in small firms; franchising; developing feasibility analysis and forming business plans.
BUSN 322 Money and Banking
This course explains framework of monetary system, financial intermediation, money market instruments and banking system. The course focuses on modern financial markets and the role of monetary policy in influencing asset prices and the economy.
BUSN 202 Business Law
The course’s objective is to teach prepare and teach business leaders the understanding business’ legal environment. The covered topics are essential civil and criminal law areas which business leaders use in practice, as company’s business agreements and employment matters.
BUSN 413 Knowledge Management
This course aims to provide the students the opportunity for understanding the importance of knowledge management in organizations as an intangible asset apart from the tangible assets. Two essential theories of knowledge management, which are knowledge-based view of firms and resourced-based view of organizations, will be illustrated as a fundamental organizational strategy. Some of the case studies are examined and analysed from the knowledge management theories and perspectives. Both tacit and explicit dimensions of knowledge will be revealed and Nonaka’s SECI model (socialization, externalization, combination and internalization) will be considered during the lecture.
BUSN 414: International Human Resource Management
This course aims to assist students, who have a basic level of knowledge in HRM and want to extend their background before going into the business world, to acquire a comprehensive understanding of international human resource management (IHRM) through a critical exploration. As such, students will be familiarized with people management and employment relations approaches of multinational enterprises (MNEs). The course aims to enable students to understand the context for, and substantive issues of IHRM, discussed around the themes of globalization, challenges, different contexts, and change. Through discussions of global talent management, the course targets to stimulate students to explore international HR practices by MNEs and their influences on HRM practices across borders.
BUSN 415 Diversity Management
Managing diversity influences organizational performance and environment. This course provides an introduction to a range of theoretical and applied approaches from various disciplines, so that students can analyze workforce diversity in modern organizations and then design, evaluate and implement strategies to manage workforce diversity.
BUSN 416 International Finance
The objective of this course is to introduce international finance fundamental subjects, build a theoretical framework of international finance questions, and derive a practical guide to solve international finance problems Topics covered include balance of payments, types of exchange rates systems, international financial markets and derivatives on currency and interest rates, financial crises.
MARK 417 International Marketing
This course explains the different aspects of marketing to better understand the international opportunities and

BUSN 418 Cost Accounting
The main objective of this course is to learn tools and techniques being utilized by management accountants including cost accountants, controllers, and chief financial officers, and to learn problem-solving methods found helpful in developing, implementing, and evaluating decisions that impact the success of any business. Topics covered include framework for cost accounting and cost management; blocks of cost accounting; time value of money and capital investment decision; net present value; accounting rate of return; analyzing the financial statements, vertical and horizontal analyses; breakeven point and indicators of risk; process costing blocks; behavior of costs.
BUSN 419 E-Business/Digital Business
Digital business course aims to maintain theoretical and practical knowledge towards enabling students to control digital businesses and operate in the contemporary digital environment. Also, this course will introduce students to the significance of digital marketing for digital businesses and provide them to use digital marketing tools for building a strategy in marketing.
BUSN 420 Public Finance
The main objective of this course is to provide essential theoretical and empirical know how of public finance to equip students with the essential tools for future development, planning and decision making. This course also aims to introduce students to the public sector reform agenda with a focus on public finance issues and focus on administrative, political, and economic constraints for reform in public finance

Business ethics course provides an overview about the concept of values, morality, as well as cultural beliefs and upbringing in all areas of business, from consumer rights to corporate social responsibility.
BUSN 421 Quantitative Analysis
This course is aims to provide information about the descriptive statistics, sampling distributions, estimations of population parameters, hypothesis testing, and Nonparametric statistical techniques and their applications to business and organization research.
PSPA 206 Society and Culture
This course is designed as an advanced level introduction to the systematic study of human society. Students will be introduced to the scientific perspective of sociology through the consideration of its basic concepts and theories. PSPA 305 Nonprofit Management
Occupying a unique space between public and private organizations, nonprofit organizations are not governmental organizations, yet they are expected to serve the public interest as governmental organizations. This course dives deep into the subtleties of managing nonprofit organizations different from any other business or governmental organization.
TOUR 205 Customer Relationship Management
This course is designed to develop understanding about customer relationship management concepts and frameworks, and how these are applied to form relationships with customers and other internal and external stakeholders. BUSN 422 Innovation Management
The course aims to provide students with basic concepts and awareness in technological innovation and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities that small and large firms face. It covers topics on the importance of innovation, leadership in research and development, management of innovation and technology, partnerships, networks and alliances, product and process development, commercialization of research and also entrepreneurship and business creation.

This course includes the development of a new venture from idea generation through business planning, funding and startup. The students will be able to understand on how a real company works and how to integrate their knowledge from different areas in the development of the business plan.
TOUR 410 Global Citizenship
This course aims to provide students to think critically and analytically, empathize and respect differences, recognize and identify the influence of their perspective, see how commonalities provide the basis for relationships, understand the impact local issues may have on a global scale and they learn to take action to create a more peaceful and tolerant world.
BUSN 424 Managing Teams
This course aims to acquaint students with the significant aspects of teams and working in teams. It provides an in-depth review of main concepts and issues around managing teams. The course intends to conceptually prepare students for task-oriented teams where they will have joined to accomplish specific goals. It presents a comprehensive understanding of the reasons for the importance of effective teamwork for organizations.
BUSN 425 Project Management
This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of project management. The course outcomes focus on key aspects of project management including project initiation, planning, risk management, cost management, stakeholder management, communication, ethics, and diversity. Students will learn how to initiate projects with clearly defined scope, requirements, and stakeholders, and how to use appropriate planning tools to plan complex projects. The course will also cover developing plans for quality and resource management, managing project risk, and managing project costs, including procurement processes for project resources. Additionally, students will learn how to manage stakeholders and communications for complex projects, evaluate project environments and select traditional and agile approaches, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The course places an emphasis on incorporating an ethical perspective in all professional activities and working effectively with diverse populations. Upon completion of this course, students will have a solid foundation in project management and be equipped to manage projects successfully.
BUSN 426 Corporate Finance
This course explains the essentials of corporate finance with basic theories. It covers time value of money, financial statement analysis, valuing stocks and bonds, capital budgeting, capital structure decisions and cost of capital estimation. Topics covered include the cost of capital, basics of capital budgeting, corporate valuation, value-based management and corporate governance, distributions to shareholders, capital structure decisions, initial public offerings.
