Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik eğitim programı, birey ve toplum sağlığını iyileştiren ve geliştiren kanıta dayalı uygulamaları uygulayacak ve sürdürecek, ülkemizin ihtiyaçlarına cevap verebilecek, değişen koşullara ve gelişen teknolojiye uyum sağlayabilecek, felsefeyi uygulayacak çağdaş öğrenciler yetiştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Mesleki ve uygulamalı derslerle çağdaş eğitimin (Hemşireliğin Temelleri, Dahiliye Hemşireliği, Cerrahi Hastalıklarda Hemşirelik, Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Hemşireliği, Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıklarında Hemşirelik, Psikiyatri Hemşireliği, Halk Sağlığında Hemşirelik, Hemşirelik ve Yönetim Öğretmenliği) Hemşirelik alanında) temel bilim dersleri (anatomi, fizyoloji, patoloji, farmakoloji vb.) ve hemşirelik alanında uzmanlık ile birlikte). Ayrıca son yılda okulun öğretim elemanları ile işbirliği içinde hazırlanan tüm mesleki dersleri ve projeleri içeren bir yıllık staj programı bulunmaktadır. Bu programı başarıyla tamamlayanlara Lisans diploması verilir.

Hemşirelik bireyin, ailenin ve toplumun sağlık durumuyla ilgilenen uygulamalı bir sağlık disiplinidir. İnsanın tanınması ve kişinin yaşamı boyunca yaşadığı ve sağlık/hastalık durumlarında ihtiyaç duyduğu bakım ve uygulamaları ele alır. THD (Türk Hemşireler Birliği) Eğitim Komisyonunun 1981 yılında yaptığı tanıma göre “Hemşirelik, korumak, geliştirmek amacıyla hemşirelik hizmetlerinin planlanması, düzenlenmesi, uygulanması, değerlendirilmesi ve değerlendirilmesinden sorumlu bilim ve sanattan oluşan bir sağlık disiplinidir. bireyin, ailenin ve toplumun sağlık ve refahını geliştirmek, hastalık halinde iyileştirmek ve bu kişilerin eğitimini sağlamaktır”. Bölümümüz oldukça geniş iş olanaklarına sahip olup, tüm sağlık kurum ve kuruluşları, kurumsal hemşirelik, ilaç sektörü, evde bakım hizmetleri ve koruyucu sağlık hizmetleri, özel ve kamu kurum ve kuruluşlarında, hastanelerin yönetim kademelerinde çeşitli pozisyonlarda istihdam olanağı bulunmaktadır. .

Program dört yıllık bir programdır, yılda iki yarıyıldır ve çalışma şekli tam zamanlıdır. Hemşirelik müfredatı toplam 146 kredi ve 240 AKTS’den oluşmaktadır.

Bu programın amacı toplumun ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda bilimsel, kültürel ve sosyal açıdan donanımlı, insan haklarına ve etik değerlere değer veren, eleştirel düşünen, etkili iletişim, problem çözme ve araştırma becerilerine sahip, hemşireler yetiştirmektir. Nitelikli ve insancıl, ulusal ve uluslararası mesleki gelişimi gözeten, ürettikleri hizmet ve teknolojileri toplum yararına sunmak.

Bilimsel özgürlüğe inanan, güvenilir, kaliteli bakımı sağlayacak hemşirelik bilgi ve becerileriyle donatılmış hemşireler yetiştirerek toplumun sağlığını koruyun ve iyileştirin.

Hemşirelik Programı Eğitim Amaçları:

Hemşirelik Programımız, hızla gelişen sağlık alanında başarılı hemşireler yetiştirmek için mükemmel öğrenme deneyimleri sağlar. Programımız öğrencileri aşağıdakilere hazırlar:

  1. Kuzey Kıbrıs, Türkiye ve diğer üçüncü ülkelerdeki sağlık kurumlarında kapsamlı ve çağdaş hemşirelik hizmetleri sunabilecek yeterli bilgi ve beceriyle donatılmış, bilimsel anlayış kazanmış, bilgisini beceriye dönüştürebilen hemşireler yetiştirmek.

  2. Hemşirelik alanında bilimsel çerçevede araştırma ve inceleme yapma becerisine sahip insan gücü yetiştirmek.

  3. Halk sağlığını iyileştirme bilincine sahip, Kolejin gelişmesini ve koordinasyonunu sağlayan, ülkedeki kurum ve kuruluşların ihtiyaç duyduğu konularda halkı eğitme becerisine sahip hemşireler yetiştirmek.

Compulsory Courses

 

ANTE101 – Anatomy

This course provides students with knowledge and skills in learning human anatomy, one of the fundamental medical sciences. It aims to teach the basic anatomical structures of the human body, explain the functions of organs and systems anatomically, enable the correct and effective use of anatomical terminology, emphasize the importance of anatomy in clinical practice, and provide the basic anatomical knowledge required for nursing care.

PSYC101 – Introduction to Psychology

This course explains basic psychological concepts related to behavior and mental processes, developmental stages, personality theories, and psychological adaptation processes. It aims to teach the basic concepts and subfields of psychology, explain psychological characteristics of developmental periods, address stress coping and communication in the nursing context, evaluate patient and family behaviors from a psychological perspective, and provide a psychological foundation for therapeutic communication.

 

WENG101 – Academic English I

WENG 101 is a first semester freshman academic English course. It is designed to help students improve the level of their English to B1+ level, as specified in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course connects critical thinking with language skills and incorporates learning technologies. The purpose of the course is to consolidate students’ knowledge and awareness of academic discourse, language structures and lexis. The main focus will be on the development of productive (writing and speaking) and receptive (reading and listening) skills in academic settings.

 

WTUR101 – Turkish I

This course is designed to introduce students with the basic grammar and writing skills and help students to further develop their Turkish language abilities and have a better understanding of the culture. The students will be able to participate in simple conversations, read and comprehend various authentic texts, listen to conversations and answer questions.

 

WATA101 – Principles of Atatürk I

The content of the course covers the history of the revolution that the Turkish nation went through under the leadership of Ataturk. The reasons for the collapse of the Ottoman Empire are examined and how the State of the Republic of Turkey was established from a de facto destroyed state is evaluated in the light of documents. The founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal realized by Atatürk Turkish Revolution, the nation-state and modernity and secularism case of Turkey in the context of phrases and meanings corresponding to the Kemalist thought to teach the students.

 

HIST101 – Histology

This course examines the microscopic structure and functional characteristics of tissues in the human body. It evaluates epithelial, connective, muscle, and nerve tissues and the histological features of organs. It aims to define the structure and functions of basic tissue types, explain organ histology, develop microscopic examination skills, provide a foundation for understanding pathological changes, and relate histological knowledge to clinical care.

 

NURS101 – Basic Concepts in Nursing

This course covers the historical development, philosophy, basic concepts, professional roles, and professional values of nursing. It aims to teach the historical development and fundamental concepts of nursing, define nursing roles and responsibilities, explain the ethical and legal framework of professional nursing, introduce the nursing care process and support professional identity development.

 

AIAI101–Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

This course provides a foundational overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, applications, and ethical considerations for students from all disciplines. It introduces basic AI principles, including machine learning, data-driven decision making, and everyday AI technologies, without requiring prior technical knowledge. Students will explore how AI impacts society, industry, education, and creative practices, and develop critical awareness of its opportunities and limitations.

 

NURS102 – Fundamentals of Nursing

This practical course includes nursing interventions used to meet individuals’ basic life needs. Topics include hygiene, mobilization, nutrition, medication administration, asepsis–antisepsis, safe patient positioning, and clinical procedures. It aims to enable safe and correct application of basic nursing skills and prepare students for professional nursing practice.

 

PHYS102 – Physiology

This course explains the functions of the human body at cellular, tissue, and system levels. It covers homeostasis, neural and hormonal regulation, muscle physiology, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory, and endocrine systems. It aims to provide a physiological foundation for nursing and clinical practice.

 

BIOL102 – Microbiology and Parasitology     

This course covers microorganism structures, classifications, transmission routes, infection mechanisms, infection control principles, sterilization and disinfection methods, and biosafety practices. It aims to integrate infection control knowledge into nursing care.

 

WENG102 – Academic English II

This course is designed to further help students improve their English to B2 level, as specified in the Common European Framework of References for Languages. The course aims to reconsolidate and develop students’ knowledge and awareness of academic discourse, language structures, and critical thinking. The course also incorporates use of technologies. The course will focus on reading, writing, listening, speaking and introducing documentation, and will also focus on presentation skills in academic settings.

Basic rules of Turkish, phonetics (sounds, alphabet reading rules), vocabulary (words as structure) recognition, relations between words), sentence knowledge (sentence structures, general structure and sentence types), reading and writing (reading rules and writing techniques, spelling rules, comprehension of spoken and written language. spelling rules.), reading –comprehension (reading comprehension techniques, applications on texts), listening (listening comprehension, listening comprehension) making necessary comments by taking notes, applications on texts suitable for students’ own professions), speaking (learning speaking techniques, learning shapes such as certain emphasis, and intonation).

 WATA102 – Principles of Atatürk II

This course focuses on the political, social, economic, and cultural reforms implemented during the early Republican period in line with Atatürk’s principles. It examines the core concepts of Kemalism—such as republicanism, nationalism, populism, statism, secularism, and reformism—and analyzes their role in shaping modern Turkish society. Through historical examples and key texts, students develop an understanding of the lasting impact of Atatürk’s principles on Turkey’s contemporary political and social structure.

 

ACYP102- Cyprus History and Culture

This course introduces the historical, cultural, and social development of Cyprus from ancient times to the present. It examines the island’s diverse civilizations, cultural heritage, traditions, and identity within a broader Mediterranean and regional context. Students will gain an understanding of Cyprus’s historical transformations and cultural diversity, fostering awareness of its contemporary social and cultural dynamics.

 

NURS201 – Medical Nursing

Medical Nursing course focus on enhancing students’ practical skills and theoretical knowledge in areas such as health promotion, disease prevention, early detection of illnesses, treatment, patient care, rehabilitation, and understanding the needs of both patients and their families. Throughout the course, learners will actively engage with the nursing process, explore fluid and electrolyte balance, examine acid–base regulation and disturbances, study shock and its management, and address various system-related diseases alongside corresponding nursing care and practice

 

NURS203 – Ethical in Nursing

This course addresses ethical concepts, ethical dilemmas, professional ethical principles, and decision-making processes in nursing practice. It aims to develop an understanding of ethical concepts and principles, evaluate ethical dilemmas, apply ethical decision-making processes, strengthen professional ethical behaviors, and explain patient rights within ethical frameworks.

 

PATH201 – Pathology

This course aims to help students understand pathological processes that begin at the cellular level and the changes that occur in organs and systems. The Pathology course covers topics such as the causes of diseases (etiology), disease processes (pathogenesis), cellular adaptations, inflammation, oncological processes, necrosis, and the pathological conditions of organ systems. By learning the differences between normal and pathological conditions, students will acquire knowledge that contributes to the diagnosis and treatment processes in clinical practice.

 

PHAR201 – General Pharmacology

This course aims to examine the effects, uses, and side effects of medications. It will cover pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, drug interactions, dosage calculations, and the characteristics of different drug groups. Students will gain knowledge about safe medication practices.

 

BIOL201 – Biochemistry

This course aims to understand the functioning of biochemical processes in the human body. It will cover topics such as the structure and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids, as well as enzymes, vitamins, and hormones. Students will also learn about the clinical applications of biochemical tests.

NURS202 – Surgical Nursing

This course teaches nursing care in surgical processes. It will cover topics such as preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, sterilization and aseptic techniques, wound care, and the management of surgical complications. Students will learn about the specific requirements of surgical nursing.

 

DIET202 – Introduction to Nutrition

This course teaches the fundamental principles of nutrition and its effects on human health. It will cover topics such as macronutrients and micronutrients, energy balance, nutritional disorders, and dietary planning. Students will learn about the importance of healthy eating habits and how to develop diet plans.

FHES204 – Biostatistics                                                                                                                                This course includes basic statistical concepts used in research, data types, analysis methods, hypothesis testing, and introductory applications using software such as SPSS. It aims to understand basic statistical concepts, explain the data analysis process, select appropriate statistical tests, interpret research data, and begin using statistical software.

NURS301 – Obstetrics And Gynecology Nursing

This course teaches the preservation, improvement, and management of women’s health. Topics will include reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, gynecological diseases, and menopause. Students will learn to plan and implement specialized nursing care for women.

 

NURS303 – Emergency and Intensive Care Nursing

This course covers patient assessment, life support, monitoring, medication management, and advanced nursing care in emergency health problems and intensive care units. It aims to enable rapid assessment of emergency patients, apply life support steps, perform monitoring and follow-up in intensive care, plan nursing care for critically ill patients, and manage communication with families and ethical decision-making processes.

 

NURS305 – Nursing Leadership

This course aims to develop nurses’ leadership roles, decision-making processes, and team management skills. Topics include leadership models, communication, motivation, conflict management, and professional responsibility. Effective leadership behaviors in clinical practice are emphasized. The course aims to explain leadership models and roles, develop effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, establish effective communication within the healthcare team, apply conflict management strategies, and enhance professional leadership in clinical settings.

 

NURS302 – Child Health And Diseases Nursing

This course focuses on the protection of child health and the management of childhood diseases. Topics will include pediatric care, growth and development, childhood illnesses, vaccines, and child health services. Students will learn about nursing care specific to children.

FHES302 – Research Methods for Health Sciences

This course teaches research methods in health sciences. It covers topics such as research design, data collection and analysis, literature review, hypothesis formation, and scientific writing. Students will develop skills for conducting scientific research in the field of health.

 

NURS304 – Teaching in Nursing

This course teaches instructional methods and strategies in nursing education. Topics will include curriculum planning, teaching techniques, assessment methods, and educational technologies. Students will develop their teaching skills by learning effective approaches to nursing education.

NURS401 – Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing                 

The  Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing course aims to equip nurses with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for individuals with mental health and psychiatric conditions. This course covers topics such as mental health concepts, diagnoses of psychiatric disorders, treatment approaches, psychopharmacology, therapeutic communication techniques, and the application of the nursing process to mental health care. Additionally, crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, addiction, psychotherapy, community mental health services, and multidisciplinary team collaboration are key components of the course. Students will learn the ethical and legal aspects of psychiatric care, develop professional competence in caring for individuals with mental health issues, support recovery processes, and strengthen their practical skills.

 

NURS403 – Epidemiology for Nursing

This course aims to examine the distribution and determinants of diseases. It will cover epidemiological methods, causes of diseases, epidemiological research, and public health policies. Students will learn how epidemiological data is used in healthcare.

 

NURS405 – Nursing Management

The course aims to provide knowledge, skills and attitudes to students in nursing services planning, organization, implementation, evaluation and coordination activities related to the management. The course covers the definition of management, purpose, theories, nursing management, functions of nurse manager, management process, organizational structure, motivation, job satisfaction, power, authority, problem solving, decision making, ethics and management, legal issues, providing quality and practicing.

NURS402 – Public Health Nursing

This course teaches about public health issues and strategies for protecting community health. Topics will include community health, epidemiology, health education, disease prevention, and health policies. Students will gain skills in developing and implementing community health projects.

NURS404 – Geriatric Care

The course provides knowledge in the field of geriatrics and identifies problems of elderly individuals care. The course covers definition and classification of age, assessment of elderly individual and physiological changes in old age, nutrition, pain and dementia / Alzheimer in old age, occurring accidents and ways of protection, psychosocial problems, quality of life and home care, elder abuse, geriatric nursing issues

 

NURS400 – Graduation Project

This course requires students to conduct research in the field of nursing and report their findings. Topics will include research methods, data analysis, literature review, and project writing. Through their graduation project, students will contribute scientifically to nursing practice.

ELECTIVE COURSES

FHES201 – First Aid

This course covers basic life support in emergency situations, injuries, shock, burns, bleeding, and basic first aid practices in trauma cases. It aims to enable the application of basic life support, conduct trauma and emergency assessments, safely perform first aid procedures, develop rapid decision-making skills in crisis situations, and ensure patient safety in emergency care.

NURS206 – Nursing For Infectious Diseases

This course focuses on the prevention, control, and management of infectious diseases. Topics will include infection control, transmission pathways of diseases, vaccines, quarantine, and isolation protocols. Students will learn effective nursing interventions for infectious diseases.

 

NURS208Nursing Communication

This course covers the importance of communication in the nursing profession, principles of therapeutic communication, verbal and non-verbal communication, empathy building, active listening, and effective communication skills with patients and families. It addresses topics such as difficult patient behaviors, crisis communication, and cultural sensitivity. The course aims to develop therapeutic communication skills, enable the application of empathy, active listening, and effective feedback techniques, establish professional communication with patients and families, manage communication under crisis and stress, and improve intercultural communication skills.

NURS307 – Health Informatics in Nursing

tThis course teaches the use of information technologies in health informatics and nursing practice. Topics such as electronic health records, data management, telehealth, information security and patient privacy will be covered. Students will develop their skills in using information technologies effectively in healthcare.

FHES301 – Occupational Health and Safety

This course covers occupational safety of healthcare workers, professional risks, occupational diseases, preventive measures, and occupational health legislation. It aims to recognize professional risks, apply occupational safety measures, protect against infectious risks, and evaluate occupational health and safety regulations.

FHES304 – Sexual Health

This course covers basic concepts related to sexual health, sexual function, reproductive health, and sexual rights. The role of nurses in sexual health education, counseling approaches, and cultural sensitivity are addressed. It also focuses on identifying and referring sexual problems. The course aims to explain concepts of sexual health and sexual function, understand the nurse’s role in sexual health education and counseling, identify sexual problems and make appropriate referrals, provide care with cultural and ethical sensitivity, and establish effective communication with individuals and couples

FHES306 – Health Literacy and E-Health

This course addresses the concept of health literacy, which includes individuals’ ability to understand and use health information and make health-related decisions. The importance of digital health literacy in terms of digital health applications, e-health technologies, telehealth, and patient safety is emphasized. The course aims to explain the concept of health literacy, assess individuals’ level of understanding of health information, use digital health tools effectively, ensure patient safety in e-health applications, and develop digital literacy skills.

NURS407 – Intercultural Nursing

This course teaches cultural sensitivity, cultural assessment, cultural care models, and principles of cultural safety that nurses should follow when working with individuals and communities from diverse cultures. It aims to analyze the effects of cultural differences on health, apply cultural care models, develop cultural assessment skills, improve cultural competence, and provide equitable, sensitive, and safe care.

NURS409n- History of Nursing and Care

The course includes the topics of health related beliefs and practices in the historical process, historical developments of nursing profession in the world , historical developments of nursing profession in TRNC and TR, nursing and health laws, rules and regulations in TRNC and TR.

NURS406 – Quality Management in Health Services

This course covers quality management in healthcare institutions, accreditation standards, patient safety practices, and performance evaluation processes. Core quality concepts such as process management, continuous improvement, risk management, and patient satisfaction are addressed. The role of nurses in quality improvement activities is emphasized. The course aims to explain the concept of quality in healthcare services, evaluate accreditation and quality standards, apply process improvement and risk management approaches, strengthen patient safety practices, and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
