Ethics Committee
Ethics Committee meets regularly and evaluates the applications. Applications will be responded to within 30 days at the latest. Anyone who will collect primary data from humans, animals, plants or the earth should apply to the ethics committee.
To apply for ethical approval, applicants must fill in the form below electronically and send it to ethical.committee@wpu.edu.tr Please do not forget to attach the relevant documents to the application form (interview questions, informed consent form, information form, etc.). All documents must be combined into a single PDF file when submitting the application.
Application Process and Use of Forms
Altınbaş Cyprus University Ethics Committee evaluates research applications to ensure that studies involving human participants are planned and conducted in line with ethical principles. For any data collection activities such as surveys, interviews, questionnaires/scales, observations, experiments, or similar procedures, Ethics Committee approval must be obtained before data collection begins.
For thesis studies, the ethics application process is carried out jointly by the student and the thesis supervisor. Therefore, applications must be submitted with the supervisor’s approval. Application forms without supervisor approval will not be taken into evaluation.
To apply, the following two forms must be completed and submitted via email: ethical.committee@wpu.edu.tr:
- Ethics Committee Application and Evaluation Form (research details, methodology, sample, data collection plan, and appendices)
- Informed Consent / Consent Form (participant information and voluntary consent)
All data collection instruments (e.g., questionnaires, interview questions, scales) and relevant attachments must be included in the application file.
During the ethical evaluation, the Committee particularly considers whether:
- There are any potential risks to participants,
- The informed consent is sufficient, clear, and understandable,
- Voluntary participation and the right to withdraw at any time are explicitly stated,
- Data security and confidentiality measures are clearly defined,
- There is any conflict of interest,
- The scientific rationale, objectives, and the appropriateness of the methodology are detailed and adequate.
Applications may be concluded as approved, revision required, or rejected. Please note that data collection must not start until the ethics approval process is finalized.
