Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee of Altınbaş Cyprus University is responsible for ensuring that all research activities are conducted in accordance with internationally recognized ethical principles and institutional regulations. The Committee meets regularly to review and evaluate research applications, ensuring the protection of human dignity, animal welfare, environmental integrity, and scientific responsibility.
All researchers intending to collect primary data from humans, animals, plants, or environmental/earth-related sources are required to obtain prior ethical approval before commencing any form of data collection.
Review Timeline
All applications submitted to the Ethics Committee are carefully assessed, and applicants will receive an official decision within a maximum of 30 days.

Application Process and Use of Forms
The Ethics Committee of Altınbaş Cyprus University evaluates all research proposals to ensure that studies involving human participants are designed and conducted in full compliance with ethical standards.
Ethical approval is mandatory for all research involving data collection methods such as:
- Surveys and questionnaires
- Interviews and structured/unstructured data collection
- Observational studies
- Experimental research
- Scale-based or similar measurement tools
- Data collection must not commence prior to formal ethical approval.
Thesis Applications
For thesis-based research, the ethical approval process must be completed jointly by the student and the thesis supervisor. Applications submitted without supervisor endorsement will not be accepted for review.
Required Application Forms
Applicants must submit the following documents via email:
- Ethics Committee Application & Evaluation Form
(including research objectives, methodology, sample, data collection procedures, and appendices) - Informed Consent Form
(clearly outlining participant rights, study purpose, and voluntary participation)
In addition, all data collection instruments such as questionnaires, interview guides, scales, and other supporting materials must be included in the submission package.
Evaluation Criteria
During the review process, the Ethics Committee assesses applications with particular attention to:
- Potential risks or harm to participants
- Clarity, adequacy, and comprehensibility of informed consent procedures
- Voluntary participation and the right to withdraw at any stage
- Protection of confidentiality and data security measures
- Presence of any conflict of interest
- Scientific validity, objectives, and methodological appropriateness of the study
Possible Outcomes
Following review, applications may be:
- Approved
- Approved with required revisions
- Rejected
Researchers are strictly advised that data collection must not begin until formal ethics approval has been granted.
